.::this is why::.

Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers even the smallest of moments, long after you have forgotten them. To me, photography is the art of observation. It's about finding beauty in an ordinary place... I believe that it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.

As cliche and corny as it sounds, life is beautiful and there are so many things to be happy about. This is a thought that I often have; whether it be on my way to or from work, my walk to the park with my dog or even as I drive from a to b. As someone very dear to me says "it's about the little things" and it's true. It's the feeling of wind in your hair when you put your car window down, the mummers in a coffee shop, the feeling of salt on your skin from the ocean or even the simple fact that the ground grows things called flowers - Like honestly... the fact that earth even produces pretty little pockets of colourful happiness is incredibly mind blowing stuff when you really take a minute to think about it.

So... although people may not be as interested, or may get annoyed at the endless photos posted on Instagram (I apologise) the reason I enjoy taking photos (regardless of the fact they probably aren't the best) is because I love the feeling that one single photo can produced. Each with its own story. A photo to me is not just a photo - It's a depiction of your personality, a small window into the way you see the world, it forces the memory of the smells, thoughts and ideas linked to that very moment come rushing back into the front of your mind. It captures a moment that your mind may have forget otherwise.

On that note here are some film photos from my Yashica Mf-1

"Vibrate good energy into others souls; making them never forget the beauty of yours"
-Richard Matthews

Food for thought...

Today as I flicked through the pages of a magazine, I realised that beauty, especially in todays society is so often and easily misunderstood. Day in and day out we are showered in media suggesting ways we too can achieve such beauty... "How to get longer, thicker hair", "Get flawless skin now" and "Ten simple ways to get your bikini body ready for summer" are a few of the titles that saturate the pages. The preconceived idea that you have to be size 6, flawless skin with thick luscious hair is the cause of so much confusion and ignorance...  So much emphasis is placed on physical appearance and so little is placed on the beauty of being kind, the beauty of individuality and the beauty of happiness. So the truth?... To be beautiful all you have to do is be you.

.::Basic Instinct::.

I'm back...

Take me away to where the light glistens over rolling fields of green, where animals roam free in paddocks that goes as far as the eye can see and where the sound of waves crashing onto the shore echo through your ears, revitalising your soul. Take me further south... take me to Denmark, WA.

This is happiness.
